சித்திரை மாதம் வளர்பிறை மூன்றாம் நாளில் அக்ஷய திருதியை வருகிறது. அக்ஷய திருதியை அன்று பல்வேறு புராண நிகழ்வுகள் காணப்படுகின்றன. ஸ்ரீ லக்ஷ்மி தோன்றிய நாள், ஸ்ரீ குபேரன் லக்ஷ்மி  வழிபாடுசெய்த நாள், ஸ்ரீ அன்னபூரணி பிரும்ம கபாலத்தில் சிவனுக்கு தானமளித்த நாள், ஸ்ரீ விநாயகர் பாரதம் எழுதியது இன்னும் பல. அக்ஷ்யம் என்றால் குறைவில்லாத நிறைவாகும். நிறைவான நல்வாழ்வு வேண்டி வழிபடும் நாள்.
