ஸ்ரீ விஷ்ணு பகவானுக்கு விஷ்ணு பஞ்ச தினம் என்று சொல்லகூடிய தினங்களில் ஏகாதசி ஒன்றாகும். அந்த நாளில் ஸ்ரீ விஷ்ணு பகவானை குறித்து பக்தர்கள் விரதம் இருந்து பகவானின் அருளை பெறுகிறார்கள். இந்த தினங்களில் அனைத்து வைணவ ஆலயத்திலும் கொண்டப்படுகிறது. ஒவ்வொரு தமிழ் மாதத்திலும் வளர்பிறை ஏகாதசி தேய்பிறை ஏகாதசி என்ற முறையே தமிழ் மாதம் 2 ஏகாதசிவரும். ஒவ்வொரு மாத ஏகாதசிக்கும் சிறப்பு பெயர் இருக்கிறது இந்த தினத்தில் ஸ்ரீ விஷ்ணு பகவானுக்கு சிறப்பு பூஜைகள் செய்யப்படுகிறது. நாம் அனைவரும் ஆண்டுதோறும் எதிர்பார்க்கும் ஏகாதசி, மார்கழி மாதத்தில் வரும் ஸ்ரீ வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி ஆகும்.

Ekadasi (11th day of the lunar cycle) is one of the five special days of Lord Vishnu. Devotees observe a fast on Ekadasi and obtain the Lord Vishnu’s divine blessings. Ekadasi is celebrated in every Vaishnava Temple. There are two Ekadasis in a month – one during the waxing phase of the moon and the other during the waning phase of the moon. Each Ekadasi has a unique name. A special Ekadasi that all devotees look forward to is Sri Vaikunda Ekadasi in the month of Maargazhi
