தைப்பூசம் தை மாதத்தின் பௌர்ணமி நாளில் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. தைப்பூசம் என்பது உலகெல்லாம் கட்டிக் காக்கும் அன்னை பராசக்தி பரமசிவன் மைந்தன் முருகப் பெருமானுக்குக் கொண்டாடப்படும் விழாவாகும். தை மாதம் தமிழர்களுக்குப் புனிதமான மாதமாகும். முருகனுக்கு உகந்த நாள் தைப்பூச தினம்.

ஆயிரக்கணக்கான இந்து பக்தர்களை ஈர்க்கும் இத்திருவிழாவில் பக்தர்கள் ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீநிவாசப் பெருமாள் கோயிலிலிருந்து 4 கி.மீ. தூரம் பாத ஊர்வலமாக நடந்து சென்று அருள்மிகு தெண்டாயுதபாணி கோவிலில் தங்கள் நேர்த்திக் கடன்களைச் செலுத்துவார்கள்.

The word Thaipusam is a combination of the name of the month, Thai, and the name of a star, Pusam. This particular star is at its highest point during the festival. Thaipusam is celebrated on the full moon day in the Tamil month of “Thai”. 
Thaipusam is a thanksgiving festival that involves asceticism and control over one’s senses. It is a day for devotees to celebrate the fulfilment of their vows.
In Singapore, this religious festival attracts thousands of Hindu devotees who fulfil their vows through a 4km walk from the Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple (SSPT) to the Sri Thendayuthapani Temple (STT).
