சாந்திர மானம் என்ற சந்திரனைக் கொண்டு கணக்கிடப்படும் வருடத்தின் புத்தாண்டு முதல் நாள் 'யுகாதி பண்டிகை'யாகும். இதனை யுகம்(தோன்றிய)தொடங்கிய நாளாக கருதுவதனால் இன்று சிறப்பான வழிபாடுகள் செய்யப்படுகின்றன.
Yugathi is the first day of the new year according to the Chandramana, a lunar calender. As it is considered the beginning of a Yuga (era), special prayers and celebrations are held on Yugathi.
